5.      Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center is dedicated to preserving and restoring one of the most important wild places in the world, with its rich web of unique life, was born almost 30 years ago near Bald Mountain in the Kalmiopsis. Lou Gold, Pedro Tama, and Romain Cooper formed the Siskiyou Project to ensure that future generations of all species would enjoy this special place. 15.  Northwest Youth Corps was created in 1984 to offer teenagers an education-based, work experience modeled after the historic Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's. In 1984, support from Oregon's forest products industry and grants from four northwest foundations, allowed NYC to start its' first program and serve 52 teens.
